Vanity Raychell Anderson, 40 of Petersburg, VA, was taken into God’s loving arms on March 3, 2026.

The family will receive friends from 3:00 P.M. – 6:00 P.M., Friday, March 20, 2026, at Rector Funeral Home, 2800 S. Osage St. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, March 21, 2026, at St. John Baptist Church. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home.

Vanity was born on October 16, 1985, in Amarillo, Texas, to Alma Juanita Anderson (Tinner) and Vernon Ray Anderson.

Vanity was an athlete in school, playing basketball at Horace Mann, Palo Duro High School, and AAU basketball with Angie Graves. She also enjoyed volleyball, swimming, and singing.

A lifelong learner, Vanity valued education and personal growth. Her dedication to learning led her to attend Colorado Technical University, where she earned the prestigious honor of being named to the President’s List in recognition of her academic achievement and commitment to excellence. They acknowledged her with the following: You Did It! Your hard work last session paid off, and you have received President’s List Honors. The President’s List designation recognizes those who have earned 4.0 for the previous term. We are incredibly proud of your success and recognize the hard work you put into achieving this accomplishment. Continue to strive for success in future sessions and know that your advisors and coaches are always available to help you meet your goals.

She is survived by her wife, Crystal Harris-Anderson; her parents, Alma Anderson (Tinner) and Vernon Anderson; her sisters, Alympia Brooks and Karmita Ryan; her brothers, Skyler Anderson, James Ryan and Adrian Anderson; her special children, Zidence Weschion Johnson, Myah Cook and Crishawn Markice Tyrell Harris; and her godchildren, Ayianna Wooten, Brayden Carter and Daisy Sims; nephews, Tyrique Tramaine Breon Brooks , Terrance Trarenzo Brooks, Elijah Traymaine Anderson, Tavian Price, Octavious Price, Jr, Marte’Zsa Price, and Jamesiah Ryan; nieces, Esme Camila Anderson Carnero, Aaliyah Ryan, and TsaMarte’ Ryan; and great-nieces, Zaylee Ryab, Brooklyn Rubio, Elias Garrett, and Kae’lynn Price; and a host of aunts, uncles and cousins.

Vanity will always be remembered for her big personality, her warm and loving heart, and the kindness she showed to everyone she met. She shared so much love with her family and friends, and that love will continue to live in the hearts of family and friends.
