Velia Maria Razo, age 85, died Nov. 12, 2019.Service will be 10 am Sat. Nov. 16 at Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel with Rev. Robert Celestino and Rev. Joel Favela officiating. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel 2800 S. Osage. Velia was born in Oilton, Texas, December 3rd, 1933, the 3rd child of Juan and Paula De Los Santos. She resided in Lakehills, Texas with her son Joaquin, and daughter-in-law Tony Razo. She spent the last three weeks of her life with her daughter and son-in-law San Juana and Daniel Cortez in San Antonio Texas. Velia loved to take care of her family and enjoyed cooking for all of them. Her family enjoyed her tamales, salsas, tortillas, beans, empanadas and many other home cooked inventions when there was not enough to feed the gang. Her house never needed any Glade spray or scented candles, the aroma of a fresh home cooked meal was always present. Velia was not afraid of hard work. She worked as a migrant worker picking oranges in the state of Texas. Picking cucumbers and tomatoes in Indiana. She worked the sugar beet fields in Nebraska. Velia was a blessed woman. She was blessed with six sons, and eight daughters. A great number of grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Velia was a faithful servant to her Lord, and Savior Jesus Christ. She gave her time in service to her church whenever something was asked of her which mainly involved cooking for fundraisers and cleaning. Velia is preceded in death by her parents Juan and Paula De Los Santos, daughter Francisca Razo, husband Jose Esteban Razo, son Joaquin Razo, siblings Benjamin De Los Santos, Josefa Cabello, Juan De Los Santos, and Elisa Claudio. She is survived by her children Pedro and Elena Razo, Raquel Loera from Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico, Amalia and Nicolas Martinez from San Antonio, Texas, Sara Martinez from Donna, Texas, San Juana and Daniel Cortez from San Antonio Texas, Javier and Laura Razo from Donna, Texas, Irma and Robert Celestino from Jacksonville, North Carolina, Guadalupe and Larry Mobley, Esteban and Bethany Razo from Amarillo, Texas, Roberto Razo from Austin, Texas, Maria and Mark Dunaway from Amarillo, Texas, Jose Alfredo from Dallas, Texas. Siblings Carlos De Los Santos from Phoenix, Arizona, Rosa Trejo from Houston, Texas, Paula Vargas from Linger, Indiana, Francisco De Los Santos from Lincoln, Nebraska, Joaquin De Los Santos from Canyon, Texas, Samuel De Los Santos, Jose De los Santos from Amarillo, Texas. A great number of grandkids, great grandkids, nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends from 4-7:30 pm Friday Nov. 15 at Rector Funeral Home.
