Verda Mae Wheeler, 85, died Sunday in Casa Grande, AZ. Memorial services will be at 3:30 PM on Friday at Rector Funeral Home Chapel. Cremation and arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home 2800 S. Osage St. Amarillo, Texas. Mrs. Wheeler was born in Apache, Oklahoma. She attended Oklahoma State University and was a supply clerk before retirement. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and a past president for the state of Texas. Lived in Amarillo for 18 years before moving to Casa Grande in March. She enjoyed science fiction and action movies, reading, gardening, cooking, and painting. She was a Methodist. She married Tom Wheeler in 1950. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1980 and by her daughter, Sally Ann McKinney in 1999. Survivors include three sons, Walter Perry Freeman of Casa Grande, AZ, Thomas C. Wheeler of College Station, TX, and Jack Wheeler of Amarillo; a brother, Perry Freeman of Oklahoma City; 9 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren
