Vernon Dale Evenson

Vernon Dale Evenson, Sr. 81 of Amarillo died Monday, February 13, 2012 at Amarillo. Services will be at 10:00 AM Friday at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 6900 Hillside St. with Joe Andrajack, pastor officiating. Interment will be at Llano East Cemetery, Field of Valor. Military honors will be by the DAV Chapter #26. Mr. Evenson was born on July 4, 1930 in Walcott, ND, to Elmer and Lena Evenson. He served in the Air Force during the Korean War and was honorably discharged in 1955. He married Rosella Silva on December 31, 1953 in Albuquerque. They moved to Amarillo in 1968. Mr. Evenson worked as a security guard at Pantex from 1968 until his retirement in 1993. He was a member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church. Mr. Evenson was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers, Lyle, Wallace and Gordon and a sister, Janice Kraemer. He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife, Rosella; 5 sons, Joe Barreras and his wife Betty of Amarillo, John Graff and his wife Sharon of Walls, MS, Bob Evenson of Amarillo, Vernon Evenson, Jr. and Paul Cassidy of Manhattan, NY., Kenny Evenson and his wife Beth of Aiken, SC; 1 daughter, Theresa Ward and her husband George of The Colony, TX; 11 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; 1 brother, Arlin Evenson and his wife Lorraine; 2 sisters, Eileen Sorenson and her husband Sandy, Diane Sakrismo and her husband Phil and many nieces, nephews and friends. The family will recieve friends at the funeral home from 5:30 PM to 6:30 on Thursday.
