Vivian Ruth Yoakam, 84, of Amarillo died on Thursday June 29, 2006 in Amarillo. Graveside Service will be held on Monday July 3, 2006 at 11:00 AM in Llano Cemetery with Jon Petty, Assistant Pastor, Cowboy Church, and Mark Payne, Pastor of The Repealed and Restored Word Ministries, officiating. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home, Osage Chapel, 2800 South Osage. Interment will be in Llano Cemetery. Mrs. Yoakam was born on April 9, 1922 to Ira and Avie Lee Hickenbottom. She married Russell LeRoy Yoakam on November 13, 1940 and were married 59 years. She served God playing the piano, singing and teaching Sunday School for many years. She was a member of the First Nazarene Church. She was preceded in death by her husband in July 2000. Survivors include a son, Jimmy Yoakam and his wife Virginia, of Amarillo; a daughter Donna Johnson of Amarillo; two sisters, Ruby Moody of Amarillo and Mary Pickering of Sterling, Colorado; two grandchildren, Rusty Yoakam and Jeannie Graham and her husband Nate, all of Amarillo; three great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter, and another great-great-granddaughter expected in September. Memorial donations may be made to Bivins Memorial Nursing Home Activities Department, 1001 Wallace Blvd., Amarillo TX 79106, or a favorite charity.
