Voneta Mae Hampton

Voneta Mae Hampton 61, of Amarillo died Monday March 22, 2010 at her home. Graveside services will be at 2:00 PM Thursday at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Pampa with Ron Hilbig of Refiner's Fire Community Church of Booker officiating. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel 2800 S. Osage St. Mrs. Hampton was born in Shattuck, OK on November 7, 1948 to Kenneth and Jean (Larkey) Neihart. She moved to Amarillo in 1956. She was a homemaker and loved gardening and baking. She was also an avid reader. She especially loved reading to her grandchildren and taking them to the public library to share her joy of books. She married Jerry Hampton on December 3, 1971 in Amarillo. She is survived by her loving husband, 2 sons, Benjamin Chad Hampton of Selma and Clint Lynn Hampton of San Antonio; 3 sisters, Gerri Basden, Vicki Nelson and her twin sister Doneta Ratliff all of Amarillo; and 4 very special grandchildren, Morgan, Gabrielle, Zach and Reese. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM Wednesday at the funeral home.
