Wade Hampton Clement, 92, of Amarillo, Texas, passed away, Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at his home. Wade was born June 26th 1925 to Wade Hampton Clement and Vida Clement. Wade joined the U.S. Merchant Marines following his high school graduation from Wellington Texas High School in 1942. He was sent to Catalina Island, CA for Merchant Marine School and was assigned to the "SS Ralph Barnes," where he proudly served over the next two years. After the military, Wade began his own successful business - Wade Clement Sewer Service in Amarillo, TX remained opened 30 years until he retired. He then began working security for what was then called IBP. He retired from Tyson (formerly IBP) at the age of 90, only a few years before his passing. Wade was a hard working man that cared deeply for his family. When not working, he loved spending time with his children, grand children and great grandchildren. In 2011, Wade was honored as an "Honor Flight" participant to see and celebrate the WWII War Memorial, as well as other sites in Washington DC. At the time, Wade was the only WWII Merchant Marine veteran to be honored with the trip from the Amarillo area and may have been one of the only WWII Merchant Marine survivors at that time. Wade is survived by his sister Annie Woods of Bedford, TX, his son Walter Clement and Karleen of Live Oak, FL, son Christopher Clement of Amarillo, TX, son Ron and Connie Tedford of Amarillo, TX, daughter Kathy Tedford and Daisy Collins of Alma, AR, and son Larry and Deborah Tedford. He is survived by 9 grandchildren, 10 great grand children and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his loving wife Frankie Clement, son Warren Clement, father Wade Clement, mother Vida Neese and brothers Tipton Miller and Johnny Clement. Wade was a wonderful man that will be deeply missed. He will forever be lovingly remembered and in the hearts of us all. Memorial service date/time is to be determined. Family and friends will be notified when the date/time has been set.
