Alan Terry, a beacon of joy and laughter, passed away peacefully on August 17, 2024, in his hometown of Amarillo, Texas, where he was also born on January 13, 1963. Alan, known for his unwavering positivity and infectious humor, leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter that will be cherished by all who knew him.
Alan was preceded in death by his father, Walter Terry, and his mother-in-love, Doris Castleberry. He is survived by his loving wife, Kathy Terry, his son, Andrew Terry, his mother, Lillian Terry, and his three brothers, Eddie wife Kellie, Stacy wife Ann, and Rocky wife Stacie. His father-in-love, Grover, sisters-in-love, Teresa and Sheryl, and brother-in-love, Michael, along with several uncles, aunts, nephews, and nieces, will also hold his memory dear.
For many years, Alan dedicated his professional life to ensuring the safety of others as the City Transit Safety Manager for the City of Amarillo. His commitment to the well-being of his community was evident in the meticulous care he took in his work and the respect he earned from his colleagues.
Alan's interests were as vibrant and varied as his personality. He had an enduring love for camping and traveling, finding joy in the simplicity of nature and the excitement of exploring new places. His passion for Star Wars was known to all, often sparking lively conversations and friendly debates with fellow enthusiasts.
Perhaps most notably, Alan's heart shined brightest through his involvement with the River Road Clown Ministry. As a clown, he visited children in hospitals, bringing smiles to their faces during difficult times. His ability to make people laugh was a gift he generously shared, never seeking anything in return.
Alan's love for his family was the cornerstone of his life. He cherished every moment spent with them, whether it was a quiet evening at home or a grand adventure on the road. His presence was a source of comfort and joy, and his absence will be deeply felt.
Those who knew Alan would describe him as loving, funny, and faith filled. He was a man who never complained, no matter the circumstance, and his resilience was an inspiration to all. Alan's spirit, characterized by his unwavering positivity and the love he had for life and those around him, will continue to guide and influence his loved ones.
