Wilbert Arthur ""Bill"" Sherman 90 of Amarillo died Friday October 19, 2007 at Amarillo. Private family service will be held at a later date. Cremation and arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home 2800 S. Osage St. Amarillo, Texas. Mr. Sherman was born May 25, 1917 at New Richmond, WI. He graduated from New Richmond High School in 1935. He attended the Missouri School of Mines and Metallurgy. He graduated with a bachelor's degree in mining engineering in 1941. He worked for the Linde Air Products Co. in Tonawanda, NY where he was involved with the Manhattan District Project during WWII. He was later employed at Sandia Laboratories in Albuquerque, NM. He also worked for Pantex for 10 years. He retired in 1979. After his retirement, Mr. Sherman was active in construction in Amarillo. His principal hobby was woodworking. Mr. Sherman had been an active member of Gold's Gym for more than 25 years. He married Clara Bemis in 1969 at Albuquerque, NM. Survivors include: his wife of the home, 1 daughter; Barbara Barrow of Denver, CO, 2 sons; Bill Sherman of Tulsa and Jerry Sherman of Albuquerque, 3 step-sons; Bob Mills of Naples, FL, Herb Mills of Detroit, MI and Warren Love of Sterling Heights, MI, 2 nephews; Todd Sherman of Colorado Springs, CO and Mark Sherman of Massachusetts, 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
