William Wayne Phillips, 86, of Amarillo, Texas passed away on September 3, 2025.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 P.M. – 4:00 P.M., Sunday, September 7, 2025, at Rector Funeral Home. Services will be at Noon, Monday, September 8, 2025, in the Chapel at Rector Funeral Home, with Dr. G. A. Roach officiating. Burial will follow at the Claude Cemetery. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home, 2800 S. Osage.
William was born in Turkey, Texas, on September 5, 1938, to Rua Nora (Foshee) and Theodore William Phillips. He met Jerry Ann Phillips when they were thirteen years old, and they later married. They were together until her passing.
William was a gifted tile setter, but he could also build just about anything. He was often found working on cars, fishing, and hunting. His favorite thing to do was spend time outside. He enjoyed mowing and just being present in the outdoors. Above all, William loved spending time with his grandchildren.
William was preceded in death by his parents, Rua and Theodore Phillips; wife, Jerry Ann Phillips; grandson, Bobby Mills; siblings, Winnie Mae Graves, Carolyn Marie Word, Ginger Faye Roach, Sonny Phillips, and Brenda Sue Ennis.
He is survived by his children, Timmy Phillips, Teresa Wimberly, Tony Phillips, Tammie Chennault and husband Ronald, and Tina Williams; grandchildren, Tabitha, Timothy, Tim, Danny, Shawn, Justin, Joshua, Zach, Stormy, Skylar, Trever, and Tessa; sisters, Shirley Chaffee and Linda Choat; many great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
