William ""Bill"" F. Rawlings, 75, of Amarillo died Thursday September 28, 2006, in Amarillo. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday October 2, 2006 at Washington Avenue Christian Church, with Jim Shelburne, Sr. Pastor, officiating. Interment will take place at 4:00 PM in Shamrock Cemetery, Shamrock, Texas. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home, Osage Chapel, 2800 South Osage, Amarillo TX 79103. Mr. Rawlings was born April 17, 1931 in Shamrock to Edna Childers Rawlings and Robert Roy Rawlings. He graduated from Horace Mann Jr. High in 1946 and from Amarillo High School in 1949. Mr. Rawlings married Margaret Duke in Amarillo in January of 1951. Bill was a member of the Downtown Lions Club and a member of SPEBSQSA, Inc, from 1948-1964; and served in the U. S. Army in the Korean Conflict Field Artillery from 1949-1956. From 1957-1962, he sang Baritone for the Pioneers Quartet, and was a Funeral Director/Embalmer for N.S. Griggs and Sons Funeral Home. Mr. Rawlings was a former director of the Pride of Palo Duro Sweet Adeline's Chorus, and was a general partner of Canyon Creek Apartments from 1976-1982. He was a member of Washington Avenue Christian Church. He was also a member of Amarillo Association of Life Underwriters and a life insurance agent from 1964 to present. Survivors include is his wife of the home; 2 sons Danny Rawlings of Amarillo, and Darryl Rawlings of Huntsville, Alabama, 2 daughters Debbie Masters of Dallas, and Diane Dobbs of Wichita Falls, TX; 10 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren.
