William Weldon Rives

Reverend William W. Rives, 93 years old, of Amarillo and formerly of Borger, passed away Monday, April 28, 2025, at The Craig Senior Living Amarillo following a lengthy illness.

Reverend Rives was born in Rotan, Texas November 18, 1931. He was the son of the late William A. and Della (Trimble) Rives. Reverend Rives received his bachelor’s degree from McMurry College (University) and received his divinity degree from Southern Methodist University. He was a member of the Northwest Conference of the United Methodist Church and was pastor throughout the panhandle and the longest in St. Andrew United Methodist Church in Borger, Texas.

In addition to his parents, Reverend Rives was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie A. (Hinds) Rives; brothers: Sonny Rives and Billy Rives; sisters: Dorothy Cave, Empress Adams, and Elizabeth Mills. He is survived by his sons: Daryl (Dianne) Rives of Humble, Texas, and Stephen (Debbie) Rives of Amarillo; grandchildren: Nick Rives of Midland, Blaine Rives of Wichita Falls, Texas, Cody (Alexis) Rives of Odessa, Scott (Shannon) Rives of Clarkesville, Tennessee, Jason (Kelly) Rives of Houston, and Leesa (Scott) Pearson of Humble, Texas; 13 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Ruby Rives of Sahuarita, Arizona.

The graveside service will be 1:00 PM, Saturday May 3 at Belvieu Cemetery in Rotan, Texas. The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM Friday at Rector Funeral Home, 2800 South Osage Street, Amarillo.
