Wilson Love

Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday July 26, 2006 at 10:00 AM at Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel with Dr. Winford Moore, retired Baptist Minister, officiating. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home, Osage Chapel, 2800 South Osage. Interment will be in Llano Cemetery. Mr. Love was born to James William and Sammie Altha Love in Greenbrier, Arkansas and graduated from Conway High School, in Conway Arkansas. He graduated from Arkansas State Teachers College in Conway Arkansas with a BA Degree and received his Masters Degree of Education at George Peabody College for teachers at Nashville, Tennessee. He married Mary Elizabeth Batson at Plumerville, AR on Dec 27, 1937. She died Oct. 14, 1991. He moved to Amarillo from El Dorado, AR in 1955. He was principal at Will Rogers and Avondale Elementary Schools until he retired May 31, 1979. He was a US Navy veteran of WWII and served as a Radarman 2/C on the USS Coghlan, a destroyer escort. He was an elementary school principal for nine years, and four years coaching basketball and track in Arkansas prior to moving to Amarillo. He was a member of several professional organizations. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Amarillo. Survivors include his wife, Imogene, of the home; two sons; James Batson Love of Montgomery TX and Bill Love and his wife Diane of Austin, TX; one daughter Mary Beth Grantham and husband Ron of Humble TX; two stepsons, Clyde King of Las Vegas NV and Terry King of Odessa TX; a step-daughter, Cheryl Robbins of Amarillo; ten grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. The family will receive visitors Tuesday evening from 6:00 PM 7:30 PM at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to Olivia's Angels, PO Box 950, Amarillo TX 79107.
