Zona Louise Van Huss

Zona Louise Van Huss, affectionately known as Zona to her friends and family, passed away peacefully on July 4, 2024, in her hometown of Amarillo, Texas. Born on June 29, 1954, to William Stanley and Lena Parsons, Zona's life was a testament to her loving nature and her dedication to caring for others.

Born and raised in Amarillo, Zona graduated from Amarillo High school and Amarillo College leading into a 32 year career of Nursing. During this time, she touched the lives of countless individuals with her kindness and expertise. After leaving the medical field, Zona found her true calling as a Special Education teacher at Amarillo High School, a role in which she continued to nurture and inspire those around her with patience and love.

Family was the cornerstone of Zona's life. She was a devoted wife to her husband Les Van Huss for 46 years and a loving mother to her two sons, Sean and Brad. She is survived by her sons Sean Van Huss and his wife Lisa, and Bradley Van Huss. Zona's joy was multiplied with the arrival of her six grandchildren: Trenton and his wife Emmy, Zachery, Samuel, Trinity, Jaycee, and Bailey Van Huss. Each of them held a special place in her heart, and she cherished every moment spent with them.

Zona's love extended beyond her immediate family. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Janeece Parsons, Niece Kim Altman and Nephew Shannon Parsons. Zona was preceded in death by her parents, William Stanley and Lena Parsons, and her brother, Byron Parsons, who no doubt welcomed her with open arms.

As we say goodbye to Zona Louise Van Huss, we celebrate a life lived with purpose and joy. Her memory will continue to inspire us to be more loving, more friendly, and kinder to one and all. Zona's spirit will forever be a guiding light for her family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to have known her. Her departure leaves a void that cannot be filled, but her memory will be cherished and honored always.
